King will not meet Epstein survivors on US visit

King Charles III to Skip Meeting with Epstein Victims During US Trip

Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles III and Queen Camilla will not meet survivors of Jeffrey Epstein during the state visit to the United States in late April, as additional information about the itinerary was disclosed. While the King’s attendance is set for 27–30 April, Queen Camilla is anticipated to engage with advocates for domestic abuse prevention and initiatives against violence targeting women. These interactions will take place as part of the broader diplomatic engagements during the trip.

Diplomatic Challenges Ahead

The King’s visit is positioned to navigate complex diplomatic dynamics, with the UK and US facing recent strains over the Iran conflict. Palace officials emphasized his capacity to bolster the enduring alliance between the two nations, which has withstood numerous political shifts across decades. A Foreign Office representative noted the importance of the visit in reinforcing the relationship and securing its future benefits, despite existing disagreements.

“We are steadfast allies, and while we differ on certain issues, these differences do not undermine the mutual advantages we derive from this partnership,” the spokesperson remarked.

Following the Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor controversy, there have been increasing demands for royal representatives to meet Epstein’s victims, including from U.S. Congressman Ro Khanna, survivor Lisa Phillips, and the family of late Virginia Giuffre. Palace insiders, however, stated that such meetings could hinder ongoing legal investigations and compromise justice for the survivors.

“Our stance remains firm: any action that might interfere with current police inquiries or legal actions would ultimately hinder the survivors’ pursuit of justice,” a source explained.

Queen Camilla has long championed efforts to combat domestic abuse, with her recent remarks at a St James’s Palace event interpreted as subtle nods to Epstein’s victims. “To every survivor of violence, whether their story has been shared or not, know that you are not alone,” she stated, underscoring her commitment to their cause.

Itinerary Highlights and Tensions

Additional details from the trip reveal the King will visit Bermuda after his time in the U.S., representing the UK government as per tradition. The visit coincides with the 250th anniversary of American independence, celebrating a bond rooted in shared prosperity, security, and history.

Although President Donald Trump has consistently praised the monarchy and expressed eagerness to meet King Charles, the current visit occurs amid heightened tensions. Trump recently criticized Sir Keir Starmer, the UK’s Labour leader, over disputes regarding the Iran war. The itinerary, however, limits informal exchanges between the King and Trump, favoring structured speeches over unscripted conversations.

Despite their contrasting personalities, the visit aims to set aside differences between Trump and King Charles. Sir Keir Starmer acknowledged the strained relationship between Downing Street and the White House, highlighting the necessity of addressing disputes constructively. “Mature alliances recognize differences and focus on achieving results through respectful dialogue,” he said earlier this year, reflecting on tensions over trade and Greenland.
