Essex Police confirmed that a 19-year-old woman, later identified as Jamie-Lea Biscoe, lost her life after being attacked by a dog at her residence in Long Hide, Leaden Roding. The incident occurred on Friday evening at 22:45 BST, prompting emergency crews to arrive at the scene. Despite immediate medical interventions, the victim was declared dead on-site, according to the police force.
A 37-year-old man from Dunmow was apprehended on suspicion of allowing his dog to act dangerously out of control, resulting in fatal injuries. The canine was confiscated by authorities, and specialist teams ensured the area was secure. A police cordon remained in place at the property on Sunday.
“This incident will undoubtedly leave the local community in shock,” said Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper on Saturday. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Jamie-Lea Biscoe, who passed away yesterday. Experienced investigators are now working to determine the full circumstances of what transpired.”
Authorities are seeking any information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, related to the event. They cited incident number 1419, which took place on April 10, as part of their appeal for assistance.
