Tiger Woods body camera video released from rollover in Florida
Tiger Woods Body Camera Footage Released Following Florida Rollover
Over a week after Tiger Woods’ rollover incident in Florida, law enforcement shared body camera video on Thursday, offering a glimpse into the event. The golfer was arrested on Friday following a collision with a trailer on Jupiter Island, where his Land Rover flipped after a truck turned into a driveway. The incident report detailed approximately $5,000 in damages to the truck’s rear left fender and the trailer’s wheel, though no injuries were reported.
Footage shows Woods kneeling beside the roadway, conversing with a Martin County sheriff’s deputy.
“I looked down at my phone and all of a sudden, boom,”
he stated, as his SUV remained overturned. The deputy informed him a medical professional would assess his condition. According to the report, Woods claimed he failed to notice the truck had slowed, prompting further evaluation for impairment.
Authorities noted “several signs of impairment” during the investigation, including bloodshot and glassy eyes, extremely dilated pupils, and slow, lethargic movements. Woods struggled with field sobriety tests, shuffling to the right during one exercise. The report also mentions he had undergone multiple surgeries on his back and leg, and his ankle tends to seize while walking.
Despite denying alcohol consumption before the crash, Woods admitted to taking a few prescription medications that morning. Hydrocodone pills were found in his pocket, used to manage pain. At the jail, he took a breath test but declined a urine test. His attorney filed a notice stating Woods waived arraignment and pleaded not guilty to DUI and refusal to submit to a urine test.
In a social media statement, Woods announced his intention to pursue treatment outside the U.S.
“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally,”
he wrote. Minyvonne Burke, a senior breaking news reporter for NBC News, covered the story.
