Couple Faces Legal Proceedings Following 13-Year-Old’s Fatal Crash

A 24-year-old man and his 23-year-old girlfriend have been brought before a magistrate in Luton following a fatal accident in Flitwick, Bedfordshire. The incident occurred at 23:50 BST on Friday, resulting in the death of a 13-year-old boy, Noah Campbell. Two other teenagers were seriously injured in the collision involving a car, bicycle, and scooter.

Charges and Court Appearance

Jamie Fountain, a groundworker from Fir Tree Close, Flitwick, was charged with causing death by careless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. He also faces multiple counts, including causing serious injury by careless driving, failing to stop at the scene, and conspiracy to obstruct justice. Ellie Ireland, an EasyJet cabin crew member from Wingate Drive, Ampthill, Bedfordshire, was charged with the same conspiracy offense.

Both defendants were released on bail and will return to Luton Crown Court on 5 May. Their families were present in court during the proceedings. The police confirmed that one of the injured boys remains in a critical condition, while the other has been discharged from hospital.

Noah, described by his family as a “fun, bright, handsome, athletic” and “incredibly well-liked” child, was a beloved figure in his community. His family expressed their grief through a statement released by the police, highlighting his positive traits and the impact of his loss.

The court heard that Jamie Fountain was operating a BMW at the time of the crash. Ellie Ireland, his girlfriend, was seated as a passenger.
