Woman raped by several men outside church

Surrey police confirmed that a woman in her 20s was raped by multiple men outside a church following her exit from a nightclub. The incident took place near Epsom Methodist Church on Ashley Road, Epsom, after she left the Labyrinth Epsom venue. Initial reports suggest the attack occurred between 2:00 and 4:00 BST on Saturday.

Det Insp Aine Matthews stated: “We understand this is an extremely distressing incident and the victim is being supported by specialist officers.”

Authorities suspect the assault happened near the Epsom Methodist Church, though full details of the suspects remain unclear. Officers are actively investigating to determine their identities and whereabouts. “The investigation is still in its initial phase,” Matthews added. “We are progressing quickly to gather information about the suspects and will provide updates promptly.”

“We are working at pace to develop our picture of the suspects, and we will share details as soon as we are able to,” said Matthews.

Witnesses are being sought who were present in the vicinity between 2:00 and 4:00 BST on Saturday and may have observed or interacted with a woman in her 20s who appeared to be in distress. Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to reach out to the police.
