Eamonn Holmes ‘doing OK’ after stroke, his son says

Eamonn Holmes’s son has shared that the veteran broadcaster is in stable condition following a recent stroke. Declan Holmes remarked, “We’re progressing gradually,” highlighting the family’s commitment to “maintaining a steady environment” around the 66-year-old GB News presenter. The channel announced his hospitalization after the incident, which occurred last week, and noted his “positive response to treatment” in a statement released on Saturday.

Family’s focus on recovery

Declan’s Instagram post included an image of him supporting his father, accompanied by a message of thanks for well-wishers’ encouragement. He stated, “We’d appreciate some privacy as we move forward, but your support has been incredibly meaningful to dad and the entire family.” The statement also expressed the unexpected nature of the event, describing it as “a real shock.”

Longstanding broadcasting career

Before joining GB News in 2022, Holmes had been a staple on ITV’s This Morning, frequently co-hosting with Ruth Langsford, his spouse since 2010. The couple revealed their separation in 2024, with a representative confirming, “their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.” Holmes, originally from Northern Ireland, has endured multiple health challenges, including spinal surgery, a hip replacement, and mobility difficulties.

Medical insights on strokes

A stroke occurs when blood flow to a section of the brain is blocked, according to NHS guidelines. Symptoms can involve facial asymmetry, arm weakness, or speech impairments. GB News CEO Angelos Frangopoulos described Holmes as a “cherished part of the GB News family” and reassured, “we’re with him every step of the way as he recovers.”

His career spans decades, with roles across Sky News and ITV, and he has remained a recognizable figure in morning television. As his family continues to manage his health journey, updates on his condition are expected in the coming days.
