Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say
Strictly Come Dancing Star Exonerated, Police Confirm
Hertfordshire Police has confirmed that an unnamed figure from the BBC dance competition will not be charged with rape. The individual, arrested in October 2025, was released on bail pending further investigation. Detectives concluded there was not enough evidence to pursue criminal charges after consulting with the Crown Prosecution Service.
“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape,” the police stated. “The man, whose bail was extended until Tuesday 7 April 2026, will face no further action.”
The arrest occurred following allegations of rape tied to a BBC event. The Sun reported at the time that the woman involved was not a contestant or professional dancer but had met the individual through their participation in the show. This incident does not pertain to the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The BBC competition, which airs from September to December, is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood. Earlier in the year, another man linked to the show was also detained in August on rape suspicions. The Metropolitan Police indicated he was also under scrutiny for non-consensual intimate image abuse, though his specific role in the program remains unclear.
