Wayne Rooney makes Tottenham relegation prediction ahead of Liverpool vs Spurs
Wayne Rooney forecasts Tottenham’s Premier League relegation before Liverpool clash
Tottenham Hotspur’s fate in the Premier League this season is under intense scrutiny following a recent 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Igor Tudor, who has now suffered his fourth loss as interim manager, faces growing pressure as his side prepares for a crucial encounter against Liverpool at Anfield this Sunday.
The club currently sits just one point above the relegation zone, with fans and analysts alike debating whether a managerial change is necessary. Rooney, a former Spurs striker, has taken a strong stance, predicting the team’s downfall despite Tudor’s efforts to instill discipline and structure.
“The players need to look at themselves because I think they’ve been an absolute disgrace,” Rooney said on Stick to Football. “The performances, the attitude, the lack of desire, the lack of fight—there’s a lack of everything in them.”
Rooney’s confidence in his assessment has grown after recent performances, stating, “Last week I didn’t but after seeing what’s happened in the last couple of games, I think they will go down.” His remarks contrast sharply with Gary Neville’s more optimistic outlook, who argued that Spurs are likely to avoid relegation.
“I don’t think they will go down,” Neville commented. “If you’re going to make another change, for me, that probably needs to be today or tomorrow because you don’t wait. My view is they will make a change and stay up just. That’s what I think will happen.”
Neville also highlighted the need for a manager with proven coaching experience, suggesting that someone like Sean Dyche would be ideal. “They’ll just see right through that,” he said. “It’ll have to be someone who’s been coaching recently.”
Rooney echoed Neville’s sentiment, advising Robbie Keane against taking the Spurs managerial role. “If it was Sherwood or whoever who is out of a job, I’d go in,” he said. “But if I’m Robbie Keane, there’s no way I’d leave a job to go into Tottenham now.”
